Stephanie Thatcher, President

Stephanie Thatcher co-founded ORCAS in 1988. After graduating
from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in business,
she was asked to contribute to the start-up of a new kind of consulting
business. ORCAS was born, and the rest is now history. She marked her
entry into the project controls solutions field with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)
in Sunnyvale, Calif. Her successful ability to manage the on-site project team to
perform all project controls functions for this fast-tracked, state-of-the-art facility
quickly led to assignments to implement and manage project controls services for other
major microelectronics companies as well.

In 1992, Stephanie became President of ORCAS. For nearly 20 years, she has traveled all over the country providing hands-on project controls solutions for complex and accelerated construction projects. During her tenure, she has also significantly expanded the services of ORCAS to new industry sectors, including Oil & Gas, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and Government.

A recognized industry leader and speaker, Stephanie is at the forefront of significant changes in the project controls field, shifting the power and control of a project from a few schedulers to empowering the entire enterprise. In addition to her vast "in the trenches" experience, she continues to expand her knowledge base in construction, project controls and the unique industries ORCAS supports. Stephanie is constantly participating in a variety of educational programs directly related to construction management, has participated in numerous technical sessions and is an active member of the ISPE and SEMI organizations.

Today, Stephanie focuses on building and growing her ORCAS team, and working to support their success along with the success of her many clients. She brings balance to her life by enjoying her daughters, husband and edible flower garden.
